In terms of graphology, Text A- which is an online forum
named Mumsnet- is designed to represent the friendly, welcoming and maternal
nature of the site. Specifically, the logo resembles that of Charlie’s Angels;
but, instead of holding guns the three women are holding babies to connote that
this site is a place where mothers can afford to find like-minded people who
are also very passionate about children. Likewise, this logo illustrates how
Mumsnet users represent themselves as strong, independent women- just like
Charlie’s Angels. Moreover, the site contains a banner so that a set of
hyperlinks are readily available: providing users with the affordance of
choosing their own content. Arguably, this could also be a constraint because
this means that users are only exposed to information that they want to know:
so miss out on other viewpoints which could lead to bias and unbalanced
opinions.
